Daniel Penny, Jordan Williams, and the Real Reason for NYC Subway Violence
Daniel Penny was just Indicted in New York City for the “second-degree manslaughter” of Jordan Neely.
Jordan Neely was a mentally ill man who was accosting people inside an NYC Subway car on May 1st, shouting at passengers that he did not mind “going to jail or getting life in prison”, and was ‘ready to die”. This escalated into Daniel Penny, an ex-Marine in the subway car restrained Jordan in a chokehold which resulted in his death.
Daniel is being charged, hopefully, he won’t be convicted, as he was trying to stop escalation on Jordan’s part. It’s reasonable for Jordan Neely’s words to cause belief that an escalation to violence by Jordan could have happened.
And just the other day, June 13th, it happened again, a man named Jordan Williams fatally stabbed a mentally ill man named Devictor Ouedraogo on the subway. Devictor, just as Jordan Neely, was accosting passengers, ripping his shirt, and eventually started harassing a woman across from Jordan Williams. Jordan Williams stepped in to defend the woman. A fight broke out between Jordan Williams and Devictor, and Jordan was forced to stab Devictor to death in an act of self-defense.
The fault of this violence lies with New York City itself.
New York City is a sanctuary city. This means that New York City has great social services for people with little proof of who they are (refugees) and people who have little understanding of who they are (the mentally ill). Which is great, New York City is doing the Lord’s work. Refugees and migrants might have little proof of who they are, but they do have a sense of cooperation that allows them to grow through the system. The mentally ill don’t trust the system, and they end up using it sparingly and living on the subway.
And on the subway, and in its stations, the mentally ill have psychotic episodes.
Mayor Eric Adams has been doing a great job. He is WAY better than Bill de Blasio. Mayor Adams has a good police presence at every station, usually, but both the Jordan Neely and Devictor Ouedraogo deaths happened on the train, in between stops.
The homeless mentally ill in New York City have it extra bad right now. If you think the…
