My Trip to Jesus’s Fortune Teller

The funniest thing happened on Sunday. First off. I found $90 lying on the ground. Which, right away, is amazing.

But then, after work, on my way to my favorite ramen shop, I passed by a fortune teller here in NYC, who had a sign out front that said $10 palm reading.

I rang the doorbell, and a young 20 to 30-something Romani woman came to the door. I inquired about the $10 palm reading, and she said yes.

Now, I should say, that I am personally an Occultist, which simply means I believe in organizing my own imagination.

I regard palm reading as occult, only in the sense that the readings are usually abstract enough to help the individual pull needed reflection from their subconscious.

This woman said I’d have a long life. Cool. And she said a bunch of other positive things too. But I laughed in particular when she said, “Are you a Christian?” I said, “No”, ’cause I’m not. I used to be. Truth be told, I still pray a Rosary every day, as it makes me feel close to my mother, who is Catholic, and I view it as a satisfactory expression of goddess worship, which is the idea in Occultism that the masculine obeys the feminine. The Catholic church expresses that in its belief that Jesus (God) must obey the requests of his mother Mary. The Catholic Church found a sneaky way to implement goddess…
