Wear an Outfit, but Never Let an Outfit Wear You
A saying I once heard that I love is, “Wear an outfit, but never an outfit wear you.”
It refers to people in roles who are asked to cooperate with things that they believe are wrong, and they do cooperate with the understanding and justification that it just comes with the role.
It’s usually a person who uses a line such as, “I’m just doing my job.”
Some people live this way of letting their roles dictate their lives because they are simply incapable of obeying themselves.
They’ve survived for too long under the training of obeying others, that to do otherwise seems to go against some natural order in their head.
It’s almost that because people live at the mercy of God, they assume that they must live at the mercy of others, too.
In reality, God is the only thing you must live at the mercy of.
