There is at least a Tower of Babel quality to AI in this sense.
I give walking tours in New York City. And it used to be that only English speakers took my tours. But now, more and more, non-English speakers are taking my tours because they can translate my speech using online AI tools. These online AI translators are so powerful that they zero in on me as the speaker and ignore any side voices around in earshot — truly an amazing tool.
In another instance, a handyman who only spoke Spanish came to my apartment via my landlord, and we communicated via an AI translation tool on his phone while he was with me.
This tower of Babel quality effectively ends most language barriers on earth. It is creating a worldwide people. The goal of the tower of Babel. A tower the world would work together on through a lack of language barriers that went to heaven — a tower to God.
Whether God or the gods will see this and feel threatened, and unleash destruction to its end is yet to be seen.
But for now, we are back at the Tower of Babel.
